About Bethany Morlan

Artist and writer, along with wife and mother. My college education was in Theatre, and have since become extremely passionate about ASL and the Deaf Community.
I had been a nanny for many years. I read countless books about dinosaurs and cats, farm animals, and not to mention the licensed character books that are always the first the child sees...but don't provide much in the area of teaching valuable life lessons.
I grew up on the Joy Berry series "Help Me Be Good" and the lessons they taught have been with me since. I remember the iconic characters with the large heads, and becoming excited to see those familiar images every time I read one of her books.
I felt that a new generation of children, my two-year-old included, could use a series they felt excited about which would also teach them about feelings and life lessons, and about doing the right thing.
I really just wish I could make at least one child excited about these books, as I was with mine when I was a child. I want that child to have fun, and absorb the content, even though they may not fully comprehend it. I would like to reign in the toddler's attention by the interaction of the hidden elf, just enough to get that lesson to find it's way in his mind and plant a seed that can grow as he does.
Keep your eye out for more in the "Find The Lesson" series, for there are plenty of lessons to be introduced to the little ones in your life.

Review by: Dean Schechinger on Aug. 23, 2013 :
The pictures in this book are very pretty and the poetry isn't too bad, either. I like to know more about this fine author. It would help to put something at the end in future books. For example, the author should list other books written and give a little biography. One drawback is that the font isn't adjustable. The words might not come out on smart phones. Authors should always strive to separate text from pictures so readers can adjust the word size for their reading devices. The PDF version is great on my laptop. Good poetry, beautiful illustrations and interesting format to the story.
