Hi, I'm Tima Maria and my background is in archaeology and Ancient Roman History, especially Roman Britain. I was a practicing archaeologist for many years before taking up high school teaching. It gave me the opportunity to take my students on overseas excursions to visit the amazing archaeological sites they’ve only seen in books.
One day, I surrendered to the itch of writing. After many years reading and correcting my students’ creative writing tasks and essays, I decided it was time to write my own. I couldn’t hold it in any longer.
Bloodgifted is the result.
In 2011, it was shortlisted in the Atlas Award – sponsored by a boutique Brisbane publisher – and eventually came fourth.
In 2012, it was listed among the top ten in the Choclit, Search for an Aussie Star Competition.
In 2013, I was offered a publishing contract, but declined in favour of going indie. I liked the idea of being in charge of my own creation.
Bloodgifted is just the start of a three part series I’ve entitled, The Dantonville Legacy. Later, I intend writing individual books on the other characters in the series, for they all have their own story.
Currently, I live on the Central Coast, an hour’s drive north of Sydney, surrounded by wooded hills, possums and seed-dropping rosellas. Between bouts of writing, I teach English and History, enjoy long walks while dodging the nesting magpies and plot the next series of books I’d like to write.

Highly recommended! 'Bloodgifted' ia a real page turner by a talented new writer. While it is a contemporary vampire book set in Sydney (I love reading about something set in Australia!), extra depth is plumbed as it crosses time periods like Ancient Rome and World War I. The characters, both major and minor, are appealing and three dimensional; we want to know what is in store for Laura and Alec. And while it is full of steamy romance and adventure, there is quite a degree of complexity in the geneology and glossary provided to flesh out The Dantonville Legacy. As Part 1 of a trilogy, there is much more enjoyment to come!

Tima Maria Lacoba is a great new author and definitely one to watch for the future. She has written an excellent paranormal vampire story with a twist. For starters, the book is set in Sydney in Australia which is a great background for such a story and it is a wonder no one has thought of that before! There are different iconic places mentioned in the book that made me squeal like a schoolgirl because it is in my hometown, thereby making it very appealing to me and relatable. Even if you aren't from Sydney, the story will capture you from the beginning because the story deals with Laura, whose blood is what allows Vampires to walk in daylight and thereby making Laura a very desireable assets for any Vampire. But, she forms an alliance with Alec Munroe, who is the male protagonist of the book. As Laura learns about her gift and the Vampire world, so do you the reader so you grow with the leading character. What is also great about this book is the 'support characters' as they are well thought out and not one dimensional. I grew as attached to them as much as Laura and lead vampire Alec. I love Vampires Terence, Sam and Cal not to mention Jenny, Laura's non Vampire friend. They round of this great book with humour and insight when needed.
Bloodgifted is the first book in the Dantonville Legacy series and it is an amazing find! I was lucky enough to have received a pre-release digital copy to read and provide my review. Well worth the read and I cannot wait for the release of Bloodpledge which is the second book in the series. I really am looking forward to the second book as I have grown too attached to the characters to say goodbye to them after one book!
Well done Tima!
