I would give this 3.5 stars.
The story was very well written. The title fits perfectly, there is lots of lies and deception going on, but you don't realize the full extent until close to the end.
There were parts were I thought I had things figured out, but then something else would happen to change it.
I did feel like Alec was borderline stalker when he told Marissa about knowing things about her. But she would watch him as well, although she didn't know ANYTHING about him. When they got together, it happened so fast!
We got our HEA, but I still have questions. Like what happened with Emily? Did Marissa ever go home to visit her sister? Do the girls move as planned?

It was a well written story, and very good read; yet there was just something that made me not love it. And I am not sure what that was

WoW! I loved this one! Not my typical read, but it sure kept me turning the pages! The protagonist and her three friends are about to graduate from college. She breaks up with her long distance boyfriend and ends up in the arms of the mysterious neighbor... Quite the steamy read! The book keeps you turning the pages while waiting to see when he is going to reveal who he is and I loved every minute of it! We finally find out about his past and the action keeps going and going.... I would definitely recommend this one to romance and thriller readers, or should I say psychological suspense? Definitely well written!

I received a free download of "Love, Lies, and Deception" by L.P. Dover, from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Twenty three year old Marissa Chase and her friends are going to Fiji for spring break, and it's their last break before they all graduate and head their separate ways. The foursome included Marissa and her best male friend, Kristian, and her best girlfriend, Emily, and her boyfriend, Justin. Kristian's girlfriend, a model couldn't get the time off work in New York to go on the trip.

On the way out of the apartment, heading to the airport with her friends, Marissa trips down the stairs, and lands in her neighbour's arms, Alec Holden...definitely a alpha male. Marissa was instantly attracted to him, but she had just broken up with her boyfriend, Jason, a few days ago. Alec was from Newport Beach, California, and had been a avid surfer. Marissa was intrigued by Alec, and was looking forward to seeing him when they got back.

When Marissa got back from Fiji,Alec invited her to come to his apartment for dinner. She was ready for a new relationship...and was open to new possibilities. When Kristian found out she was meeting Alec for dinner, he told her to be careful, he seemed to be holding something from her...and was acting weird.

Twenty five year old, Alec had tried the college thing, at Berkeley studying economics, but his mind was only on surfing. He was now helping to fix up his old aunt's house. Alec had too many secrets.

As the relationship between Marissa and Alec grows, hidden dangers evolve in this web around her. This is a novel of secrets, lies, betrayal and murder. Will Marissa figure it all out before it is too late? People are not who they seem to be. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer...

A fast-paced romantic suspense novel, with believable characters, that will grip you right to the end.

I gave it 4 Stars

Yes - I gave it 5 stars (and that is rare for me)

The Cover: I can not tell exactly what it is but it did captivate me and it is different.
The Characters: I love the characters. Marissa is so sweet and a typical girl and her friends make me want to get inside the book and live with them. The guy downstairs is so hot and his past entriguing. I even got to despising one of them too lol
The Story Line: Same ole dark past story line but it was different at the same time. The past was not what I expected and I like the twist that was put on it.
The Ending: WTH - lol - I can not say anymore without a spoiler *smh*!

...omg this book has me. I started writing this review before I had finished the book because I had so much emotion I had to get it out lol.
I started off liking him but damn i hate him. He creeps me out and I want to choke the sh*t out of him - seriously I am almost yelling into the book. It's like a horror movie you watch on tv, you know he/it's coming yet you can't stop looking. Argh - who you ask? Read it and find out!

I am now finished the book and it is something else. Happy, warm, fuzzy, screaming inside, fear, wanting to smack someone (seriously), anger, hate, love, lust and yes, one part even had me teary eyed - I think I felt almost all emotions in this one book.

Heck I was so sucked in I even took this book to the potty with me *blush*.
I couldn't get through it fast enough yet at the same time didn't want to get to the end.
You get so entranced with the story that you know something is coming and want to get there fast but yet you take those baby steps so you don't miss a thing and at the same time you force yourself to turn the page. Then, THEN you smack yourself in the head.....

I know everyone has different tastes in books but this one did it for me - it captivated me and made me feel so many things. I really enjoyed this story - L.P, thank you so much for writing/sharing it!

I would recommend this book to anyone over 17 - although I desperately want my 16 year old to read it cause it was so good LOL

Wow, ok so I didn't really know what to expect when I started this book. I figured it would just be another collage drama, but turns out it is that but SOOOO much more. This is a fantastic romantic suspense. I was hooked right away. I wasn't able to put this book down till I was finished and when I was done I was left speechless. The ending will blow your mind because you will not see it coming. I loved the ending because just when you think you have it all figured out you really don't. This book was really well written and the plot was fantastic. The characters are all great. For a book boyfriend Alex is pretty awesome. I really really wish there would have been an epilog though because I didn't like not knowing what happens to certain characters and would love to see what is in the future for all the main people in this story.
