Review by: Annette Mardis on Sep. 21, 2013 :
Overweight women in their 50s don't often appear in romance novels as objects of desire, but Debra Salonen makes it work in this witty, breezy novel.

After enduring a lifetime of mean-spirited blows to her ego that would have felled a lesser woman, the aptly named Judy Banger decides to end her sexual drought with a one-time-only encounter with an octogenarian from the assisted living center where she works. (Relax, it's not as yucky as it sounds, thanks to Salonen's skill with words and humorous touch.)

As Judy's libido awakens in a big way, her partner literally goes out with a bang. The consequences of having him die in her bed leave her life in disarray.

But Judy is nothing if not a survivor, and her resulting adventures and misadventures of the carnal kind help her realize that finding lasting love and being true to herself are worth the pothole-filled roads she has to travel to get there.

Salonen's quirky characters help make this a read to remember. So do her messages that sexual fulfillment doesn't have an expiration date, and that a women needn't be svelte and unwrinkled to attract the man of her dreams.
