Ten Things Worse Than Rape

Rated 4.50/5 based on 4 reviews
This short poem is dedicated to all the women I've encountered in my life who insist that being raped is the worst thing that could possibly happen to them. From someone who was date raped in her life, I can tell you...It's not! ETA updated on 9/5/17 to include twisted short story. Harsh language used. Not recommended for anyone under 18 years of age. There are some things worse than rape, but when you were but a child when that rape happened, there's almost nothing worse. It rewires your brain for the rest of your life.

Is rape a political act, as some insist? The notion is grandiose compared to the mundane criminality of sexual perverts. I like this poem because it looks at rape for what it is to the individual, rather than as some sort of unified aggression by the male gender against the female. As a liberal sort of person who battles the PC's on the far left and conservatives on the right, I very much appreciate hearing this voice of reason on a delicate subject.

Food for thought. Or is it thoughts of revenge?

This was a short read, but the point was reached beautifully. As a fellow poet, I love reading poetry the comes from people's hearts. I love how you listed things that can be worse than being raped. I know at the climax of it all, it seems like nothing more can be worse than getting taken advantage of. But once you sit back and realize, it really could have been worse.
