Unique New York
New York is full of funny things if you look hard enough. This picture book illustrates some of those funny things on the streets of Manhattan. More
New York is a funny place if you look hard enough.
Every day for the past 16 years I have been commuting into Manhattan via the Long Island Rail Road. That train brings me into Penn Station, located in midtown Manhattan. For the most part, I have refrained from giving the MTA any more of my money for a subway ride and instead opted to walk from Penn Station to my offices.
As one could imagine, you get to see a LOT while walking the streets of Manhattan. From the panhandlers, to the aggressive cab drivers, to the fearless pedestrians who take their lives into their own hands by crossing the street when they don't have the light, to the numerous billboards, signs, ads, and storefronts that bring the city to life.
This book is dedicated to those images. You'll see these scenes captured in this book on almost every street in Manhattan. Thousands of people walk these streets every day. But how many have stopped to take the time to notice them, or just stop and think about what those scenes mean?
These images were taken in New York City from 2010 through 2013.
I hope you enjoy this book, as I've attempted to find the double meaning and the humor of these scenes that you see every day in New York City.
