About Carol Vialogos

During my time in Greece I've finished three books. I wrote a screenplay before I began the novel of The Movie Murders which was born during a conversation with the real Kostas who owned my neighborhood DVD rental store. I have lived in the large multinational cities of Los Angeles, Toronto (born there) and Vancouver this has colored my opinion of immigrants and their struggles to fit in and now as a Canadian expatriate living in Europe since 2002 I too feel the alienation.

Smashword publication books are both a blessing and bane to readers. Anyone can put words together and call it a book. They can be 7 or 700 pages in length which is good in a number of points . It is also bad in respect to the lack of proofreading by someone other than the author.

The other person can see the flaws in sentence structure that are obvious when read for the first time. The correct use of words is also confusing when not used correctly. Switching from first person to second person is very distracting also.

“She turns him around” (present tense) “She kindly looked” (past tense) back and forth through out the first part of the book.
“She had more guns then dolls” should have been “She had more guns than dolls” just to name one instance.

I gave up reading this book before getting a quarter of the way through because the writing was so distracting. The only redeeming quality of this book is that it was free. I would have been outraged if I had spent any amount in obtaining it.

This is a cool and interesting premise for a story, and I liked it since I love movies and crime mysteries. The author clearly did some good research and has a passion for this topic.

The author did a good job of creating great imagery through words. I felt like I could see the story unfolding before my eyes.
Overall, it is an interesting read, especially if you love movies and crime stories.

I just finish reading the writing debute of a rising authoress C Vialogos. The book takes place in a big city nowadays and it is classified in the category of mystery. The characters are a mysterious man, the dvd club owners and two ambitious detectives from the homicide department. Ten shocking crimes mess up the city. Ten immigrants were found dead, each one in a unique way related to their jobs. The three detectives have very interesting personalities. Each one different but together they make a great team with their own lives and problems and as a reader I was always happy, never trying to know more about them. The story had a lot of good moments even if they were sometimes predictable. However the writer managed to give us images in every sentence which was amazing because it was like reading a TV series. The book is very enjoyable to read, suspenseful but not frightening with an amusing but surprising ending. I hope someday that she'll have a paper-book version so i could read it again and highlight all the movies. I highly recommend this book to movie fanatics and people interested in crime mysteries.
