I've read a lot of hiking books, and this is one of my new favorites! I liked it because he hiked the JMT long before "go lite" became the norm. An 85 pound pack! A compass & map! All alone! Loved it! As you "hike" along with Mr. Spivey you see how the trail changes him as a person. I see this happen in many of my hiking books. He does a great job of describing the trail, mountains, weather, and his day to day life on the trail. Really makes me want to do it too! The part of the book when he goes to "Cloud's Rest" is great! Wow! I want to go there and see that view! Thank you for sharing your hike!
