Elaine Benton was born with Gaucher disease, a rare genetic disorder, and diagnosed at the age of 44 with Parkinson's, has been writing a daily blog, which is read in over 70 countries around the world. Elaine Benton's aim is to offer support and solace to fellow sufferers and caregivers allowing others in similar circumstances, no matter what the disease, to not feel alone in their daily struggles. The book also offers doctors a unique perspective into the personal everyday ordeals a chronic patient goes through. To mark writing for a second year, the entire entries have been made into a book with the aim of also creating greater awareness about Gaucher, a rare disease many have not heard about, and Parkinson's, that millions suffer from worldwide, but is often misunderstood. It appears only when good health is lost, that we realise how precious and fragile life is. With a sense of humour and strong fighting spirit, Elaine writes candidly about all issues related to living with chronic disease.
