Michael Gallagher is the author of "The Bridge of Dead Things" and "The Scarab Heart", the first two books in a series of novels featuring the young Victorian ghost channeler Lizzie Blaylock. Originally intended for the YA market, these historically based works have gained a much wider audience, appealing to children and adults alike. He is also the author of "Gooseberry", based on characters from Wilkie Collins’s "The Moonstone", which was first published as a weekly serialization during the summer of 2014 at Goodreads, and the extremely popular "Why the Victorians Saw Ghosts – An Illustrated Guide to 19th Century Spiritualism".
Michael is a teacher at Bede, a London-based charity that works with the local community, where he has taught adults with learning disabilities for the past twenty-odd years. He’s an avid reader who used to clock up fifty plus books per year, though this has slowed down considerably of late. For ten years he belonged to the large and successful reading group at Rotherhithe Library in Southwark, which transferred to a new home when Canada Water Library opened in 2011. He now attends a Crime and Thrillers group there.
