About Ted Peters

Ted Peters is the author of fiction and non-fiction, books and blogs, scholarship and spirituality. With a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago, he has served for decades as a professor of theology and ethics in Berkeley, California, at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary and the Graduate Theological Union. His specialty is oiling the hinge that swings between science and religion. Peters' first-hand experience with violence in the inner city, combined with academic teaching, has led him to wrestle with human nature and with the question of why we human beings kill one another in the name of some higher good.
Ted Peters builds bridges, conceptual connections between science and religion, evolution and faith, genes and persons, stem cells and ethics, ecology and cosmology, astrobiology and astrotheology, UFOs and human hope, outer space and the inner soul. He is former editor of Dialog, A Journal of Theology and currently co-edits Theology and Science. Find commentary and updates at Ted's Timely Take: tedstimelytake.com.
