A collection of prose and poetry about the Primary schooldays of John Pratt in Bexhill-on-Sea, England, during World War 2, 1939-1944. More
This Boy’s war began when he was six years old in 1939 and ended five years later. John Pratt gives a first hand account of his experience of World War 2 in prose and poetry. The location is Bexhill-on-Sea in East Sussex, England, where John’s schooling was interrupted by air raids, evacuation and, at one stage, complete closure of all schools in the town. John vividly recalls his primary school teachers as well as the games he played in the school playground and out of school. The final chapter presents others of his family living through a second world war in the space of barely twenty years.
