W.E. (Bill) Powelson hails from the deep South Texas border town of McAllen. He is currently retired (err-uhh, unemployable) and living happily in Daytona Beach, Florida, on the twelve dollars and fifteen cents he saved as a working Honky-Tonk drummer.
After a lifelong (50-year) career playing music (drums) for his supper, he is now in his golden years and has discovered that writing for the fun of it helps to keep a smile on his face. He is the author of five digital (html) e-books on the art of drumming; all of which may be viewed and studied online (or off), by going to “The Homestudy Institute of Drums” on the World Wide Web. (Just do a Google search for Bill Powelson.)
If you are seeking help with Smashwords Meatgrinder Formatting, e-mail him. Bill will be happy to help in every way he can, plus (if you prefer) he will format your e-books according to Smashwords specs for a fee of $20 per each 100 pages.
NOTE: If you are trying to use Word Starter to do your Meatgrinder formatting, feel free to e-mail Bill for free tips that may save you weeks of frustration.

What can I say? This book is a life saver. It's a gospel,a Bible for Open Office disciples. Without this guide, I would still be sweating over my digital files.
This guide was easy to use and understand. The author is personable and friendly, and his sense of humor and personality really come through here. Thia is a simple no-nonsense guide to formatting and publishing on Smashwords, but it's more than that. This guide taught me alot about Open Office. It's a tutorial, a class in Open Office for beginners, with bonus lessons in e-book formatting. I can't say enough great things about this book. It's a must download.

I was embarking on a program to bring my 5 KDP titles to Smashword & had read Mark Coker's books. I use Open Office & had some questions about the differences in format from Word. I discovered Powelson's book, and was able to complete the Smashword conversion with only a couple of questions. A reply to an email to Mr. Powelson answered them the next day and my books started sailing through the autovetter.
I strongly recommend anyone using Open Office to download the free ebook and read it before starting to format your work for Smashwords.
Although I am a seasoned PC/Word?Open Office user, this book has a chapter that will take a "Nooby" step by step through the formatting process.
