Worst Day Ever

Rated 4.80/5 based on 5 reviews
Jackson Little-Light lives on a Cree First Nation. He doesn't want to get into trouble every time he turns around, but it seems to happen a lot! Things get out of control on the first day of school when he decides to jog to school in his brand new runners instead of taking the bus. He doesn't really mean to get the rodeo bulls so mad and . . . well, you will just have to read all about it! More

About Ellen Hooge

Ellen Hooge’s inspiration for Jackson Little-Light’s story comes from her Grandmother. She was a woman who loved Jesus, her 28 grand kids, her First Nation friends and telling stories about her prairie childhood.
Ellen and her husband Jack have worked and lived alongside the First Nations community for over 30 years. They and their four daughters have had many great adventures with their Aboriginal friends that just beg to be told. So it’s time to pass on some stories to the next generation of kids. Many of Jackson’s experiences are based on true events!

"NO! That can't be the end of the chapter! Read another!" These were the cries from my 4 kids as I finished each chapter. Intrigued but a bit skeptical at first, they entered into the story quickly, and we all were left musing to ourselves, in between chapters, what Jackson might do next. The only problem with this book is its brevity! :) We are consoled that the next one is coming soon.

Just read this book and loved it. Strong moral values are presented in an entertaining and humorous story. Looking forward to the next book in the series!

I really enjoyed reading this book, it's useful for education as the Bible says, and the "Let's think about it" section is a powerful section, even though I didn't revise the verses of the Bible written there -I'll do when I read this book again. But it's more powerful than the usual questions, because it makes the children seek up and understand more apart from what was written in the chapter itself. I wanna ask: When will the 2nd book be published? I hope someone will inform me when it happen. By the way, I'm also writing a series adventures, related to or so similar to Jackson adventures, but the hero's name is "Abanoub" and he lives in Egypt. Thanks Ellen for sharing this marvelous book with us :)

Worst Day Ever is a funny, smart and thought provoking book that will entertain and educate children, teens and adults of all ages. So many children and teens come back from summer camp wanting to live a life devoted to God, however, friends, family and life in general make choosing God's way ,at times difficult. This is a great book/devotional that will help its reader navigate through the challenges of living for Christ, making Godly decision and getting back on track. Can't wait to read the next one.

Love this book! Worst Day Ever takes readers, young and old, on an energetic, entertaining, hilarious and heart warming journey. I found myself taken away and thoroughly delighted by the characters, while joyfully educated through story into our First Nations culture, people and languages. This book is an absolute pleasure with much to reflect upon. I would recommend this book to everyone.
