Murder by the Old Maine Stream

Rated 5.00/5 based on 5 reviews
If ever a woman was not cut out for life in a backwoods town in Maine it's chic city woman Nora Lassiter. If ever there was a misunderstanding about what a woman does for a living, the very idea that Nora could be a "hotshot New York detective" takes the cake. But when she stumbles upon a body in the woods, and her uncle becomes a suspect, her plans to return to the city are put on hold.

About Bernadine Fagan

Bernadine Fagan has written short stories for "Woman's World" and other magazines. She's a former science teacher who has taught biology, physical science and earth science. Yes, she misses it, but she enjoys her new writing career, too.
She particularly enjoys writing the humorous sections of her books and has been known to laugh out loud (loudly, it must be noted) while in front of her computer.
Sometimes writing is fun.

Review by: Kevin A. Lyons on Feb. 18, 2014 :
This is an excellent "cozy" mystery. The characters are believable, and there's good chemistry between Nora and Nick. I found some of the situations a little "over the top" but that's not unusual (or necessarily bad) for this genre. The mystery plays out well and logically, without being obvious. And it does have some funny moments.

Recommended for fans of light, or cozy, mysteries.

Witty writing, intriguing plot. Hopefully will be the start of a series of books.

I'm in the middle of Murder by the Old Maine Stream and have trouble putting it down so I can get some other work done! Nora is so much fun with so much positive energy. What will happen to her next? She certainly gets into some crazy situations!

Received an e book reader for Christmas,
and decided to purchase Murder by the
Old Maine Stream based on its whimsical
cover. What a fun find. Just loved the main
character Nora, loving aunts. and Nick,
her new found love interest. There were
so many twists and turns, and through it
all, Nora never lost her sense of humor.
I was sorry when the book ended.
Hope there will be a sequel.

Nora Lassiter is a complex combination of seeming contradictory traits expertly packaged up into a delightful character you won't soon forget. And she's not the only character in this fast paced, fun mystery you'll love. This is one of those books you won't want to take to the doctor's office -- it's laugh out loud funny, and you'll miss your appointment because you won't want to put it down. Can't wait to read more by Ms. Fagan!
