I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
New Beginnings is the start of the Others of Edenton series. It revolves around Jess and Slater. Jess is a werewolf changing packs because of her alpha. After one drunken night, he won’t leave her alone. That would be great, but he treats women like crap. He uses whoever he wants and doesn’t consider them to be good for much. Jess decides it’s time to contact the Alpha in Edenton about a bar he has for sale. With the sale final, Jess heads to Edenton. The Alpha in Edenton, Slater, doesn’t have personal relationships with wolves. After his wife committed suicide by grizzly bear, he doesn’t want to open himself up to the pain of losing another mate. When Jess and Slater meet, the chemistry is off the charts. They are very attracted to each other. Too bad they don’t want anything to do with a permanent relationship. Throw in a werewolf second that hears voices, an alpha that wants Jess back, and a former vampire lover, and you have a recipe for adventure.
I loved this book. I loved the interactions of all the characters. It was action packed and fast paced. I loved Jess and the matter of fact way she dealt with her psychic visions. I also love the strength that Jess has. She’s strong and sticks up for her beliefs. She’s not looking for a handout from anyone and knows how to take care of herself. I was frustrated that everyone just ignored the way Liam was acting. Everyone thought he was acting strange, but no one did anything about him. I was thrilled when Jess and Slater finally accepted their attraction. I enjoyed meeting all the characters that play a part in the other books in the series. Overall, this was a very sexy read with romance, action, and just the right amount of intrigue.
In Too Deep
This is the story of Fallon and Brody, that we’ve met in New Beginnings. Fallon is tired of men trying to change her. Brody is still mourning his late wife, four years after her death. Fallon is on her Harley just driving, not really knowing where she’s going, when she’s hit by a huge werewolf, Brody. Brody is being chased by vampires when he plows into Fallon. Fallon heals Brody and takes care of the vampires. This starts their rollercoaster ride of a relationship.
I loved this story. I loved that it included a wide range of paranormal species. We had werewolves, fae, vampires, druids, mages, the list could go on and on. I loved how strong Fallon was and that Brody wasn’t intimidated by her strength. I loved how Brody took care of Fallon without smothering her. They found the perfect partner in each other. I loved the action in this book. It was very fast paced and kept me intrigued throughout. I love shifter books and this series is at the top of my favorites.
Shadows Fall is a novella in the Others of Edenton series that introduces you to Amethyst. Amethyst is a nymph. Amethyst broke up with her boyfriend, Carl, when he became too controlling. Unfortunately, that doesn’t work for Carl. He will stop at nothing go get Amethyst back.
This was a great introduction to Amethyst’s story. I loved her personality. She didn’t want to use her powers to hurt anyone, even her stalker ex. Carl is so conniving and diabolical, I can’t wait to see what evil he does next. I can’t wait to read more and see how Amethyst’s story turns out, especially because of the glimpse we were given in New Beginnings.
Shadows of the Past
Shadows of the Past is the story of Amethyst’s adventures as she leaves behind the emotional turmoil of her ex’s suicide to start a new life in Edenton. Amethyst is a gently nymph. She doesn’t like to use her powers to hurt others. She definitely didn’t want to have to sleep with her ex to get him to stop stalking her. She never thought it would end in his suicide. Overcome with the guilt of Carl’s suicide, Amethyst decides to move to Edenton to be closer to her best friend, Fallon. Amethyst isn’t ready to have another man in her life. Just when she’s decided to “fast”, in walks sexy Sheriff Hayden Hunter, an earth fae. He feels and instant attraction towards Amethyst. He feels the need to chase, something he hasn’t felt for another woman in quite some time. However, things aren’t quite right in Edenton. There’s a shadow building over the people of Edenton. Will the townspeople discover the threat they’re under? Will Amethyst be able to stop the darkness?
I absolutely love this series. The first three books were wonderful, and this one is just as good. I loved Amethyst and how she tamed her big warrior. Hayden was a sweetie in this book. He took such great care of Amethyst, bringing her sweets. I also loved the insight we got into some of the other characters like Preston, Robert, and Liz. My heart broke for Preston and Jamie when their romance fizzled out. I’m eagerly awaiting the next book. I need to read more about these fascinating characters.
