There's a lot here for lovers of Fantasy, Science Fiction, Space Opera and fans of Gnostic Christianity to chew on. Angels, Archangels, Fallen Angels, Genies/Gin, an Earth Angel, and the Apocalypse. And not a recycled, worn out take on the Apocalypse, something completely new.
This novel can be reminiscent of Neil Gaiman's immortals in American Gods and Anasi's Boys in the way Richards makes his immortal angels, genies and archangels tragically human. Though they possess supernatural abilities they
all seem to suffer from the human condition. They all have forbidden loves and desires, though they are immortal they all seem to be tragically incomplete.
This book is perfect for anyone who has ever thought, 'there is something seriously wrong with this world.' And possibly something seriously wrong with the heavens too.
