Considering I only discovered this author in the summer of 2013, this has probably been my most anticipated book release of the last few months. Given that the previous book ended on a cliff-hanger, I could not wait to find out what happened next.
I was not disappointed!
Perhaps the least significant aspect of this book is its plot. Yes, it continues the event began in MA£: Legend, but from that point of view, it does not feel like a complete book. that said, given that this is the second-to-last book in the series, this is not unexpected.
The storyline still twists and turns and given that I finished this book in one sitting, cover-to-cover, I do not mean this as critism.
However, where this book real shines is the characters.
From page one of the first book, I fel the characters to be incredibly realistic. You could taste the friendships, love and antagonism between the characters. However, Matt Archer: Bloodlines takes this to a completely new level. The characters are richer than ever.
Despite having spent the last few weeks anticipating this week and trying to think of what was likely to happen, I was caught by surprise with many of the events that occurred. I won't hint at any since I try to avoid spoilers, but I was surprised more than once. this is not to say that the event did not fit. They seemed obvious and natural once I read them.
This is definitely a book I will reread many times over the coming months. As with Legend, it ends with a cliff-hanger. Although there seems to be a lot of ground to cover in the final, I can't wait to see how the author will bring this to a conclusion in just one more book, but I am desperate to find out.
