I enjoyed your story. I only have one problem with it. Since when are beavers trapped during the summer. Their pelts would have no value at that time of year.

A very nice read with a moral. Not nearly as heavy handed as many of the stories with a Christian bent, and it fits nicely in the Western Frontier category. For a first story it was much better than what we typically see on Smashwords. Please keep writing.
