Valor

Rated 4.83/5 based on 24 reviews
There is an ancient myth that tells of two Books of Power. One made by Typherion, creator of the universe. One made by the Dark Lord Gorgyth. Never seen. Never found. They have long been forgotten about by all but a few. In a small, isolated village in the Nothern Lands, a boy named Valor has his quiet life turned upside down when he finds one. But which book is it and who knows he has it?

About J. W. Cockerill

I grew up in the country so it's no wonder I used it as the inspiration for Valor's home. I began wrting what would become Valor in the summertime when I was 19 and working in Fort McMurray between semesters. I finished the majority of the book the following summer. Many of names of places in the book are taken from actual places in the County of Northumberland - where I grew up. Since its release I have expanded on the series by publishing a second book and a third book. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I have enjoyed writing them!

Very good! Starts slow, but then picks up. About mid-way through i was thinking it was a little Harry Potter-ish and not in a good way. But keep reading, because it nothing like that book. And if you don't believe me, read the second one. This story is completely original!

An exceptional book! Well written and the protagonist's strong character coupled with Dusty's humour makes for a perfect match. The book starts a little slow so you need you give it 4-5 chapters but I promise it's worth it! I agree with another poster here - it's def a fantasy book but not high fantasy where everything and everyone is magic. It's closer to Tolkien in that there is little magic and powers but a true fantasy world. The author has done an amazing job at weaving the world of Aedra together to make it a believable place. I highly recommend you read it. Now on to the second one!!! Can't wait!

This book is a horrible rip-off of Harry Potter, with a little Alice in Wonderland thrown in. Ugh!!! And, dear Author, please learn how to use phrases, punctuation, spell-check and grammar correctly. (Actually, I think the author is a kid, trying to sound like a grown-up.)

An incredible book. I would have easily paid $15 for this. It ranks with the likes of Harry Potter and the Hobbit. I'm not sure why this isn't a best seller but I bet it soon will be. I would recommend it to anyone who has ever read the Hobbit and wondered when the next great childrens fantasy novel will come out!
