This book by K Matthews is amazingly real. She captures the intense struggle of a lot of single mothers in a straightforward and fresh perspective. Ramen noodles do suck nutritionally, but every poor person I know, is aware of too many ways to vary their presentation. Living paycheck to paycheck and raising a good kid are important things and Charlotte, the heroine, is strong even though she is plot. I respect that she doesn't sell herself cheap to her boss, Liam, who openly admits that he loves being a "jerk". It was a good story that I can see as having the capacity for more to follow, although this felt okay as a stand alone book too. It was a good, fast read and held my interest from start to finish.
