Not overly good or bad, Some parts work better then others.

Example, given the characters personality and story, it is unlikely they would have gone into town for salt. It is not that important, it is available from other sources, that whole scene did not fit well into the story.

The ending seemed a bit brief for the decisions and outcome, but it was in general keeping with the progression of the story.

Darrel Bird has done an exceptional job with "Shards". In just a few pages he manages to draw you into Craig Martin's life after the "Big Out" and then helps you to understand that not all people are savages. The ending provides a hope that is lacking in too many shorts. Thank you, Darrel.
