Val Tobin's love of reading translated into a love of writing from the time she was six years old. She also had a fascination for the paranormal and occult, which is reflected in her writing. Her lifelong passions were interrupted by a sojourn into programming and a ten-year career in software/Web development.
She became a certified Reiki Master/Teacher and Angel Therapy Practitioner® with Advanced Training, certified by Doreen Virtue, Ph.D. in 2008. She then trained in mediumship, also with Doreen Virtue, in Kona, Hawaii. Val received a Bachelor of Science in Parapsychic Science in 2010, and is working on a masters degree in Parapsychology. She is a member of a few paranormal investigation and UFO groups, and participates in investigations and sky watches. Val spends most of her time writing, presenting workshops, studying, and enjoying time with her husband, two kids, and three grandkids.
Val wrote for Community MX, a site dedicated to all things Macromedia, and had a story published in Doreen Virtue's Hay House book "Angel Words." "The Experiencers" is her first novel. Val lives in Newmarket, Ontario, with her husband and cat.

I finished this book in one solid sitting! Tobin has masterfully crafted a rich and multi-layered story that draws you into a world of callous aliens and the treacherous agency that protects them. The reader is barely one step ahead of the characters as the plot is uncovered, one tantalizing twist after another, to reveal a dark world that could very well exist. A thoroughly good read; I cannot wait until the next one in the series.

This fast-paced read explores the possibility that aliens have taken control of the world governments and are using human beings for experiments. It's a new age paranormal action thriller you won't want to miss. It's action, romance, paranormal explorations and aliens. What more could a reader ask for!

Well-paced character development, action, romance and menace!
For anyone who’s ever lent credence to the notion that aliens visit Earth, The Experiencers by Val Tobin is frighteningly real. Michael Valiant is a black ops assassin for a government agency that shields alien presence from public knowledge by silencing UFO researchers who know they’re here among us. Carolyn Fairchild is a psychic medium who functions as a sort of spotter for her local research group, and when they see something they shouldn’t, Michael and his partner are dispatched to shut them up before they blog about it.
Just when Carolyn’s group starts having fatal accidents at the agency’s hands, Valiant has a crisis of faith. He’s discovered our government is in league with the alien “establishment”, with the joint goal of global subjugation. But Valiant learns there’s a rebel alien base in a wilderness park, whose mission is to work with the people, not against them. So instead of killing Carolyn, Valiant enlists her help to find the base. Now the agency wants them both dead before they reach the rebels.
The Experiencers is written with a deft hand, and well-paced between thoughtful character development and straight-on action scenes. Lurking in the background is some entirely plausible bleeding edge technology. The few psychic episodes are both real and out there. And for the tender-hearted, there are a couple of poignantly real sex scenes between two people thrown together by fate and accepting it. Meanwhile, pursued by government men with stones where their hearts should be…

I was intrigued by this fast-paced sci-fi thriller, and am looking forward to the next book in the series. If you are willing to set your disbelief aside and let yourself be sucked into a world beset by ETs and agents of a shadowy quasi-governmental agency conspiring together to bring the world as we know it to an end, then this book is well worth your time.
