About Russell Whitehead

Russell Whitehead is an author and illustrator of books for children and middle grade readers, a puppet builder and puppeteer. To date he has self-published three titles for children. An Easter Bunny's Journey, Have You Ever Seen a Blue Bunny? and his latest title The Light Man. All published through Amazon's CreateSpace self-publishing platform and Kindle Direct Publishing. Two additional titles, The Boy Who Once Chased Cats , another children's book, and The Sparrow Princess , the first in a series of original fairytales for middle grade readers, are scheduled for release in 2015.

Russell's passion for writing comes directly from his own experiences as a child. The legends and fairytales read aloud to him as a young boy sparked his imagination and inspired a love for reading that has lasted a lifetime. As an adult he discovered puppetry and embraced the art form as a way to make those stories come to life. He writes to amuse and entertain young minds as well as to impart old fashioned wisdom in a contemporary way.

Russell resides in Griffin, Georgia with his wife Deb and their dog Dylan. When he's not in the studio honing his craft, he enjoys spending time with family and entertaining grandchildren. He blogs about children's and middle grade books as well as various writing and puppetry projects he's working on.

Very clean and easy to read. Illustrations kept the reader wondering what is next. A great way to teach colors to young readers and have parent or teacher read along and inner-act with color questions. I can see 'Have you ever seen a Blue Bunny?' working well in the classroom or around a family dinning table. Great job by author.

I am so glad I’ve come across the author. This book is just fantastic. I read it to my three year old grandson and we laughed at the rhymes – who’s ever seen a rabbit with knotted ears!

The illustrations are vivid and use generous slabs of colour to enhance the story. The different rabbits are portrayed in quite funny situations. They drive a van, play baseball, hang from trees and go fishing – just to name a few.

The story is aimed at younger children and the rhymes will certainly support their language development. We got a lot more out of this book when I read it out loud to my grandson. It read simply but was still very effective. My grandson asked me to read it to him three times in a row and I know he’ll come back again and again.

It is visually very appealing to all ages and looks great on my tablet and my phone. And I can imagine older children will enjoy this book too.

I can’t wait until the next book is released. I can highly recommend this book to everyone.
