Key Plot Elements: strong woman learning to trust herself, and thrive, after a life-altering trauma; a sweet and intuitive German shepherd not-quite-puppy; paranormal in that the woman can hear the dog talk; a vibrant cast of personalities, including a competition between two sexy sailors; a hint at some very interesting technology; humor; adult language and scenes.
The first novel in Tina Hammond’s Team Red series does a fantastic job opening up the world of Teresa March, both in the pages, and in the protagonist’s mind. Tina’s style is relaxed, and conversational; you feel as though you are sharing a cup of coffee with Teresa, and making a new friend.
Blinded in a freak accident, with the help of friends, and through the surprising gift of communication with her assistant dog, Teresa begins to rebuild her life into something more satisfying than she could have ever imagined. Poignant moments are laced, liberally, with humor, lest we get too serious.
While there is a simple but strong paranormal element (i.e. talking dog), and a good amount of sexy thanks to the sailor’s involvement, Blind Seduction’s backbone is woven with courage and progress. I appreciated the honest and realistic portrayal of how Teresa was able to leave behind a self-admitted “pity party” and embrace life again, showing resilience through the inevitable disappointments. Finally, as Teresa adjusts to her new normal, growing confidence becomes a catalyst opening new opportunities for life and love.
Book ends with a satisfying close, completing all but one of the open plot threads, while still leaving a great stage from which the next book in the series can pick up. Great read!
