Excellent! For such a short story, the author did a remarkable job of world building, as well as interesting, well-rounded characters. In short, a beautiful story of friendship, courage and honor. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of her books.

I loved this story... it tells the story before Not Magic Enough and Coming Storm, about three who were thrown together to mark boundaries on lands in the times of a fragile peace between their races, and on the way develop strong friendships not only despite their differences but also despite the efforts of people who want the peace to fail. The author packs a lot of meaning and at the same time action into a short story, and if I hadn't read the other books in the series earlier, it would have made a great introduction to Elon, Jareth and their world. VERY good read!

This story kept me on my toes the entire time, the challenges all three of them surpassed was heartening. This book in itself I would say is one of my favorites by far! Valerie, this is probably one of the most touching stories i have read, and one of the better action/adventure stories I have read. Wonderful Job! I would Highly Recommend for anyone to get this book and read it.. you will want to read it time and again, and you will fall in love with the characters in it.. I know i did!
