Review by: Angela Roquet on Oct. 17, 2014 :
I really enjoyed how this was a novel with vampires... but not really about vampires. I'm definitely more drawn to the Roman history of the Immortals. The colorful look at Italy was fun too, and though I thought the plot would be predictable at the beginning, I was delighted when it shifted gears and went off in a direction I would have never guessed. Paranormal romance and suspense done fresh and done right.

I had the good fortune of reading an ARC of The Lost Centurion. I am obsessed with books, they are my choice of drug. No day passes that sees me without my iPad or better still a paperback in my hands, so when Marcus came into my life I was completely overwhelmed. His story makes you want to enter the pages and fight his battles to ease his pain. His commitment to his goal is more than admirable. Then along comes Diana and we see Marcus as the noble soul who will still protect, even if she is all he despises. Monica La Porta has given us a glimpse into a world where being Immortal isn't just about living forever, but to protect and serve with all your being. Well what would you expect from a Roman who has honour drilled into him all his life. Coming from a Mediterranean background I know the feelings of revenge and vengeance that churn and toil in your gut until there is nothing else until they are fulfilled. We also know how to love unconditionally, and give ourselves completely body and soul to our other halves. This is what you get when you read The Lost Centurion. You will fall in love with Marcus and wish you were on the receiving end of his heart. I recommend anyone who reads this, to go and buy the book, you won't be disappointed. So looking forward to the next one.....Miss La Porta, please keep your Immortals coming... And it was absolutely the perfect choice to go native....
