Michael was born in Illinois, grew up in New Jersey, wandered around the East Village, earned a BA from Washington State University, lived in Spain for a while, moved back to New Jersey, moved to Queens, earned an MBA and an MA from the University of New Mexico, moved back to Queens, then moved to North Carolina. Today, Michael lives mostly in his head.
Michael’s writing style and stories are a pure reflection of the life he has lived and the world as he sees it. He writes with a terse, sardonic precision that captures moments and emotions in their rawest form. You will not find staid euphemisms that temper his message for a fragile audience. Michael writes what the voice in his head tells him to write. No, he is not schizophrenic, but some people think he is a bit “strange”. (Let’s just assume that is not a staid euphemism for “nuts”) When you read Michael’s work, you will feel like you just shared a few beers with him and listened to him tell a story as he would to a friend.
While everything in Michael’s stories actually happened, they are also based on his version of the truth as he remembers them. So, the facts may not hold up in a court of law, but they do make for a great story.
