About Marc Summerfield

Marc Summerfield is President of Summerfield Consulting, which he recently established after serving as Director of Pharmacy at the University of Maryland Medical Center for 12 years. He has faculty appointments at the UMB School of Pharmacy and the Notre Dame of Maryland University School of Pharmacy.

He is a native Marylander, but he grew up outside Asbury Park, New Jersey.

Marc received his Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy at the University of Connecticut and his Master's Degree in Institutional Pharmacy at the University of Maryland. He completed a pharmacy residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. In addition to his service at the University of Maryland Medical Center, he has served as Director of Pharmacy at the Arkansas Children’s Hospital, the Texas Children’s Hospital, and the Medical University of South Carolina.

Marc’s professional interests are Pharmacy Automation, Drug Distribution, Medication Safety, and Business Writing.

He lives in Bel Air, Maryland with Anna, his wife, and two children: Alec and Cora.
