What a treat! This is not your everyday ghost story (I don't even like most ghost stories) but an exploration of human relationships, the good and the evil, love and sacrifice. The main character is realistic, and his story is very believable : he starts giving ghost tours as a way to make some extra money, it's a job for him and entertainment for his guests, nothing more. For a while. But then things change as he starts to interact with the ghosts. And that's just the beginning of this fascinating adventure.

Dennis Butler's writing is lyrical, philosophical, engaging, and thought-provoking. I loved the idea that ghosts move slower than the living because they have no reason to hurry. The whole eternity is theirs. I also loved the idea that extreme evil can transcend the life and death boundary but that the good forces are stronger. And the relationship between Elle and the main character is fascinating. Lots of exciting plot twists, interesting physical changes in settings, and changes in the characters.

This is a wonderful book. Highly highly recommended.
