About S.D. Stevens

I love reading, whether it's historical, horror, romance, supernatural or suspense, I get totally absorbed. I enjoy a wide variety of authors from Stephen King and James Herbert to indie authors such as: Nicky Charles, Jan Gordon, Candace Carrabus and S C Stephens.

I have lots of other interest such as; amateur photography, which I'm not very good at, walking with my dogs and I am a member of the English Heritage and like to visit historical sights. I love steampunk and enjoy creating costumes and attending events. I run a small dressmaking and homemade gift business with my daughter. I am religious but I reserve the right not to divulge and I give others the same respect. I do find people interesting, how they believe tells a lot about them but I do not judge.

I HATE soap operas. I mean really hate them; Coronation farm and Emmadale square; to me watching those is a waste of valuable reading or writing time. I do watch TV, I love things like CSI, NCIS, Game of Thrones, True Blood, Vampire Diaries, Arrow, Sharpe, Startrek, Supernatural and Charmed, I think you get the drift, anything supernatural and sify. My daughters and I go together to see all the latest horror movies at the cinema.

I has been writing for years but never plucked the courage up to get my work published. It took me a long time to find an outlet for all the stuff that goes off in my head and then to show it to people. Most have said it is good and want to read more but lets face it, I have only shown my work to family and close friends. As much as I love them and how they have encouraged me, the biggy is what will happen once I publish something? Once it's out there? That is scary, don't you think?

My writing is mostly about a magical world called Alhanassa. It came into existence after reading countless historical novels and being troubled by how society treated girls and women. What would it be like if the roles were reversed? A world governed by Queens, Priestess, governesses. Alhanassa is such a place where women rule and magic is a part of everyday life.

If you choose to download something of mine, THANK YOU just for even considering it. I nervously sit, metaphorically twiddling my thumbs. (I will be either reading or writing).

Reading through this has been a pleasure and I have to agree with the other reviewers. It has everything which makes for a good read; emotion, appropriate pace and an immersive plot. The story ends nicely on a cliffhanger, leaving us readers anxious to see the next edition to find out what becomes of a few of the characters and indeed the world of Alhanassa!

As a side note; I've read, written and edited many reviews on plenty of different platforms. These have covered all things from books, movies, theatre, music, restaurants and hotels. In my experience the two "1 star" reviews seem nothing more than vitriolic nonsense. Ironic really, given that the last one seems to have been written in blind haste by someone who has a very poor grasp on the English language or how to use it correctly!
Pay no attention to the internet trolls!!

Just read this book and i completely disagree with the last review, i got lost in the story. Like most books, i read i like the magic behind the story. Speaking of mystical creatures like Dragon imps gives a whole meaning to the sence of the magic, the sisters and especially bodelia's character of a jealous goddess.

Brilliant more please

Absolutely shit, can't say any of the words, it's over exaggerated, the use hyperbole is pathetic an quite boring.

I was not sure where I was being taken when I started this short story, but after the author starts to build her world, the story puts its hooks into you and pulls you along.
Bodelia's character is developed nicely and the supporting characters as well. S.D. Stevens writes with passion and the story evokes emotion.
I really enjoyed this and found myself wanting more.

From the ethereal world of a goddess, to the divided and endangered world created by her jealousy and anger, this is an excellent read!

I totally disagree with the last review. I'm very well read, given that I can't get about much, and I've never come across anything similar to this. It's captivating, well written, well edited and left me burning for more!
More please!
