Darkness and Chaos has fallen upon Half-Haven Island. The inhabitants are distraught at the destruction. Their only hope lies with six teenagers from another world who find themselves transported to the island. They must save the island and it's inhabitants. Out of the ordinary is the story of sixteen year old Alastair Campbell, his thirteen year old twin brother and sister, Amy and Andy, and fourteen year old Demi Sullivan and her thirteen year old twin brothers Tim and Tom. Although the two families have never met, the six find themselves transported onto Half-haven Island and soon become friends as they discover that they have powers of the elements. Amy has power over fire, Andy over water, Alastair over air and wind, Demi over earth, Tom over darkness and Tim over metal. They meet many creatures during their stay on the island, each of a certain element.
Arthur stone finds them, having summoned them in the first place and tells them that they must defeat Morvana, who possesses the power of darkness, who has brought chaos to the island. Tom and her alternate in powerfulness as they both possess the same powers.
Many battles are fought, leaving the teenagers changed forever, as Morvana sends her minions to fight them. Scars, physical and emotional are left.
Tom loses all of his powers as he doubts his part in the group. Morvana then saves him from the dark Umbra who would have killed him and convinces him that they should share the power over darkness and that his friends are out to kill them. Tom almost kills his twin but turns on Morvana instead. A battle ensues and Morvana is defeated but many dark creatures come to battle with them. Other creatures that are on the elemental one’s side come to their aid and they eventually win the last battle. Arthur then explains how Morvana became so evil and sends them back home.
In the story, the characters learn how to put aside their individual differences and work as a team, showing that everyone has their part to play if they are to succeed. They each learn about their individual faults and become stronger and better people on the way.
