About Mark Elswick

Mark Elswick has been a teacher, tutor, sportswriter, college professor, and author. Despite overcoming a life-threatening auto accident in 1992, perseverance and dedication kept him in the writing game. The title of “author” didn’t come until late-2011 when Modern History Press (MHP) published his first book, “Padman,” a collection of 13 shorts stories. Afterward, he ventured onto the independent scene. That two-year chapter of his writing career also saw months of podcast hosting and public speaking while he was self-publishing three novels and some short stories. Elswick recently returned to MHP and his first biography is currently in the works.

Quite funny read, but women aren't the only ones who use that word. Men use it to annoy us as well. Good job Mr S. Wood! Keep it up.

It took you three pages to tell us that she was long winded? and her bad four letter word was "Then" lol I do admit it was funny and it would have been VERY boring if you would have just told us the word, and so see that is why women take so long to explain things, so you guys don't get bored!! or should we write letters lol Keep writing I love it!!!

I truly enjoyed reading this short story. I think we've all been there with the "not so short" answers. The author has a way of making you feel every painful syllable that his friend is trying to convey in a long drawn out answer. Extremely funny and very witty is this author. Can't wait for ore from him!!

I enjoyed reading this, and enjoy the author's personal style of writing. It is casual and gives one the feeling of being told the story face to face... Mark does a great job conveying the humor in a situation we all find ourselves in and reminds us of the joy there is in everyday moments and relationships. I look forward to more Elswick...

Great ending but the process of getting there was rather painful. Exaggeration takes you a certain way with writing humour but it can't be the only technique employed. The other grating point was the American clichéd approach to dating... its so common!

Very enjoyable, straight-forward, little story. I hadn't really thought about it before. It's so true. Any man who has female friends can relate to this. :)

This short story is one of my favorites... It's a funny story for fun people!! When I read this story, I can almost hear the thoughts in Mark's head. I can also hear the seconds hand on the clock ticking away every agonizing second as it goes by for him. I've learned a very important lesson from this story... Men like short answers, preferably just yes or no! hahaha :) I give it 5 STARS!! Great job, Mark Elswick!
