The book is very honest and raw , from the harsh life of those days - the realities of low education, the violence of alcoholism , perceived family loyalty and judgmental misogyny views on women .
Emotions of the heroine were honestly written , a women having sexual desires is normal and beautifully in touch with her self , which has been labeled and judged by puritan culture .She is honestly real , no disillusions of sudden change because of a man or romance nor society , but for her own fulfillment .
The hero complemented her well , not all men are randy playboys as stereotypical portrayed .
Written well , paced nicely , a story about healing , choices and creating your own destiny in life .
