My interest in helping families began when I was a child
I was raised in a very strict home environment. Even though my parents did what they thought was best for me, their authoritarian parenting style had a profound effect on me. As a young girl, I promised myself that I would raise my own children in a completely different manner.
When my first-born, Robert, was a young child I became interested in child development and the many issues facing parents. I left a busy corporate life in pursuit of a career as psychologist in the hope I might have the flexibility to be with Robert and explore my newfound passion for helping children and parents.
I HAVE BEEN IN PRIVATE PRACTICE SINCE 2003
In 2003, I completed my post-graduate training in Psychology and became a Registered Psychologist. In the years that have passed, I have found great meaning in helping parents and children improve their lives through professional psychology services. And, it is with great enthusiasm that my love for psychology continues to evolve. I have been fortunate to regularly acquire new knowledge and skills through conferences and workshops, and read about new developments in the field.
My aim is to be a source of help for parents, and their children, by equipping them with the skills to make positive change in their lives.
CONTRIBUTIONS I'VE MADE TO PSYCHOLOGY
I have been in private practice since 2003. I have published over fifty parenting magazine articles and answers to parenting questions on an expert panel in both Australia and New Zealand. I am also the author of The Happy Toddler, published in four countries and translated into two languages and Help! I’ve Created a Brat! Both books are currently available on amazon.com.
