A Fine Collection of Urns

One Halloween Eve a group of women meets to discuss their writing of family history. They end up sharing four tales of ghosts they, or people they know, have experienced. From a haunted apron, a possessed chessboard, a cemetery the night after Memorial Day to a set of cremation urns on a stormy night, their wholesome world reveals its weird side. Perfect unsettling reading for the spooky season.

About Linda Madl

Linda Madl has loved history and all the romance that goes with it since her mother first read fairytales to her and later a teacher read Johnny Tremaine to her sixth grade class. She became a booklover and devoted herself to writing her own fiction in grade school. She has been unable to put down the pen since. Her first short story was published in the late 70s. Her first novel was published in 1989. Since then her work includes novels, contributions to several anthologies, and nonfiction articles. Her fiction explores traditions, mystery, folklore, and the paranormal. Themes are generally life affirming. The settings are as varied as her travels: England, Scotland, Civil War battlefields, the suburbs, and the Rocky Mountains. Her characters include lords and ladies, cowboys and do-gooders, strong-willed women, family relationships, and heroic and villainous men—and yes, ghosts. She loves horses and old houses, classical music, flower gardens, and has a weakness for chocolate and bookstores.
She resides with her husband on the Florida gulf coast. Family and friends fill her non-writing hours. Learn more about her at www.coffeeshopwriters.com or www.pineislandwriters.org.
