Dr. Varsha Agrawal is the one and only female artist of the Sufiyana Gharana in India and has gained immense popularity, both at the national and international level for her exemplary performance with the Santoor.Her journey of music began at a very tender age of six. She received training in Vocal & Tabla from Shri Elahi Bakshji Jhalawar & Shri Girdhari Lalji Dangi, Ajmer (Raj.). Thereafter,she has been learning Vocal, Tabla & Santoor under the able guidance of Pt. Lalit Mahantji Ujjain who is a renowned Tabla Artist of Banaras Gharana and a leading disciple of PadmaVibhushan PT. Kishan Maharajji, Varanasi and Lt. Pt. Riz Ramji Desad, Mumbai of Delhi Gharana.At present Dr. Varsha is the ‘Gandabandh’ disciple of renowned Santoor player, Saint of Santoor, king of strings Padma Shri Pandit Bhajan Sopori ji. Now Dr. Varsha Agrawal is performing India and abroad continiously.
Dr. Varsha Agrawal, also had the honor of doing Sangeet Bhusan, Sangeet Prabhakar Vocal, Sangeet Alankar (Tabla), Master of Arts (Vocal), Ph. D. in Music flying colors. .Apart from this, she has the pride of getting her numerous works, such as:
Bandishes, Research Papers, published in Sangeet Masik, Shodh-Samvet, research link, etc. A number of ragas on Santoor have also been telecast on Doordarshan and All India Radio.
A Ph.D. on the subject of ‘Hadouti Ki Lok Gathavo Ki Gayan Parampara’ Dr. Varsha Agrawal is rendering her services as a Asstt. Professor of Music at Govt. Girls PG College in Ujjain. She is a direct ‘A’ grade artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan,
