What could be more powerful document than something written by 2500 stalwarts of India, over a period of two and half years? What could possibly go wrong with such a document written after so much deliberations and consensus? What could the document, that is expected to guide a nation of a billion people, not do, inspite of having 395 articles, and over a hundred amendments? Yes ….what could go wrong? The answer….EVERYTHING. The answer is all around us to see. In writing a document “Indian Constitution” that is supposed to serve future generations, the fore fathers of Constitution forgot to take into consideration the various changes that the generations shall produce. Inspite of having a constitution that is the longest in the world, the lack of transparency and inherent hypocrisy to absolve the political class from any sort of responsibility and accountability for their actions, has turned the sacred document into breeding ground for hypocratic democracy in India. It is wrong to assume that the Constitution alone is to blame for the failure of democracy in the country. People’s inherent attitude to break rules, caste system, vote bank politics also caused the present situation.
The only route out of the mess is through a new form of government that does not rely on the vote bank politics and caste system for its survival. The answer is EPISTOCRACY, a new form of government that is in the minds of western intellectuals where the intelligent, wise and educated people shall wield the power and run government in a methodical manner.
