About S.E. Akers

Despite my career as an interior designer/artist, I’ve always sought more imaginative avenues to explore. So with the support and encouragement of my husband and son, I decided to sit down one sweltering Mississippi summer’s day and write a book. Yes, the chick whose attention span is limited to “pictures” made the decision to pen one big ’ole book. To my surprise, words actually came out, not just doodles or elaborate drawings on the blank sheets (despite their intimidating, pre-printed hard lines). The more I wrote, the more I began to truly enjoy the written word and the power it holds to enrapture your mind. . . . And at that point, I was a goner for sure.

Though I’ve played my fair share of Barbie” growing up (Seriously- it was the 80’s), what I truly enjoyed most was hanging out with my older brother and the neighborhood boys for hours and hours of superheroes, Dungeons & Dragons, and the occasional G.I. Joe. Naturally my adrenaline-seeking, fantasy-a-holic rear loved the idea of creating a brand new class of supernatural to throw into the mix of the incredible figures gracing the shelves of today’s literary world. Talisman was born. And, I couldn’t think of a more fitting place than my home state of West Virginia to set the wheels of this tale into motion. Contrary to popular belief, there are more than toothless hicks churnin’ out ’shine and roaming the mountains back there . . . Trust me, you’ll see.
