i enjoy reading a really wide variety of literature and one thing that really struggle with in a book is a slow beginning -- which i'm glad to say this doesn't have. right away i was intrigued and sucked into the story and if it hadn't been for needing sleep i would have finished it all in one go. the futuristic concepts created a really interesting world to immerse yourself in and i loved the idea that the crew was picked from all different times throughout history and set together. the twist it took at the end really surprised me (though considering the beginning it perhaps shouldn't have) and i can't wait to read the rest of these books.

Not overly good or bad, long enough to let you decide if you want to read more in the tale.
