I very much enjoyed reading this story. Its style is very similar to the Emperor's Edge series, which I love.

Just because a book costs nothing doesn't make it worth reading: Flash Gold, however, is one you can't afford to miss.

Though this novella most likely won't take more than a couple of days to read, it'll stick with you for longer. The steampunk technology is typical in many ways, but the Yukon setting--where such devices have not yet been fully accepted--adds a new twist. Interesting as the background is, though, it never overshadows the story itself, which races along nicely.

It's also worth mentioning that, although there are other books in the Flash Gold Chronicles, this one works perfectly well as a standalone story: great if you find yourself with just a little time to fill. However, I for one certainly intend to pick up the next in the series!

I've had this book on my to read list for awhile. The other day I needed a quick story to read to shake off the very long book I had just finished. What a delight!!!!! I love this story! As I progressed I found myself regretting the book was so short. Upon completion, I quickly came here to check if there's more from this author, in particular more of Kali and Cedar. What excitement when I saw on the page for Hunted (The Flash Gold Chronicles, #2) "You own it"! Yea!!!! I think I probably picked it up during the Read an E-Book Week.

In Flash Gold there are mechanical wonders, a steampunk air ship, modified guns, dog sled racing, bad guys and gals, pirates, and one hunk of a man... what's not to like?
