Honest Lee is a metafiction style humorous novel about a guy named Lee. In short: Lee is in his early/mid-twenties. He believes that he could be anything he wants to be, but after a life of trying to be unique and memorable, Lee realizes he is neither. It occurs to him that all of his failures in life are the result of his inability to be honest ..."truly" honest with the world. Lee decides that since he can attribute his lack of success to the holding back of his true thoughts and feelings, he would see what his life could be like if he would just unchain his fears and say everything he ever wanted to. This proves to be a far more difficult task than he could ever imagine, and he struggles to figure out that being honest with himself is the only thing that matters. In long: Lee has no reason in the world to be no one. Nothing tragic has ever happened to him, and yet he searches desperately every day to find reasons to blame everyone but himself. He is surrounded by the most common friends and he cannot fit in with them. He is going nowhere fast and cannot take it anymore. Our hero decides to write a book about himself. The book is called "honest Lee", and we follow Lee as he struggles to write this book, (the one you are reading), and to have it published. His desire and commitment to be someone is inspirational. He fights himself every single day all in an effort to know he gave life his best shot. Lee is a fictionalized character of the author Steve Liddell. This is a very humorous novel laden with parodies of the western culture in which he was raised. This is a raw, bold, and brutally honest, (and shallow), view of the world through his eyes.
