This book combines my two favorite genres, historical and romance. I have pretty high standards for those genres, (since I've read so many books), but this definitely lives up to that... and then some! I love the setting, in post-Civil War America, and in the west. There's just something lovely and compelling about a romance story set there. The characters really came alive for me, and I found myself really getting involved (so to speak) in Ginny's and Luke's lives. It's hard not to--the author really has a knack of drawing readers into the story! Reading this book was time well spent, and I'm sure that anyone who is a fan of historical romances will enjoy this just as much as I have!

I love books like this and this one is amazing. It is a romantic western with such passion and action. I was held by it from the start and hated to see it end. Everything is perfect; the details are outstanding and clear. I could feel and see everything. I love the strength of the characters, each one lending part of them selves to make the story so real. Ginny is my favorite and the relationship between her and Luke is both heart warming and heart wrenching. I love this series and Shirleen has certainly become a favorite author of mine. I love her style and her love for writing. I can not wait to read the next book. I most definitely recommend this book to all lovers of romance. I loved it and you will too
