This is more of a vignette than a full story, and it is more focused on the characters than plot or action. The setting appears to be the late 19th century, which does lend it a bit of a steampunk ambience, but there really isn't any tech to the story.

It's a good, enjoyable, quick read.

This was a fun little read. Not precisely steam punk, necessarily.

I wouldn't mind seeing more in this universe. Slightly stilted characters - but that's appropriate for this sort of 'Boys Own' piece (well, Girls Own, had there ever been such a thing).
