About Mary S. Sheppard

I was born closer to space than most and spent most of my childhood in the Andes of Peru, 12,500 feet above sea level. It may account for my lifelong fascination with space. I studied to be an aerospace engineer and worked for NASA Ames where I met many astronauts who came to train on the Space Shuttle Simulation. (My character, Jett Keystone in The Feelings Are the Same series, does not depict any of them.).
Right now, I am enjoying writing and when the characters in my stories start taking a life of their own, I'm just here for the ride. I have three science fiction series:
A Where is Now Story - Set in the 2060s, Amy, a pharma-biologist travels to the 1890s to recover extinct plants that can be used for medicinal purposes. Although working in such times is difficult, people are similar, and romance can happen.
The Feelings Are the Same - When Suki is taken to an alien planet by the Neubulisskys she is concerned, but these aliens may be the ones with the more "human" feelings.
The Anzu – When the logical alien builders of the spaceship Anzu invited others, including a group of humans, to join them in the exploration of space, they could not have imagined that including such diversity would be the hardest part of their mission. These are short stories written as episodes.

About the Series: A Where is Now Story
Amy Waterman had always been dedicated to her job as a biochemist at BioTime Labs. Of course it was the kind of work one could get dedicated to – saving the world, or least, curing diseases that afflicted the people of her time, in 2066. BioTime’s business was to find plants whose chemical composition could be used to synthesize such remedies. All the plants studied were now extinct so to retrieve a specimen, one had to travel though time.

Amy was not supposed to be one of the time travelers.
