As a complete beginner with a little known instrument, I was frustrated by the shortage of music written for the Merlin. My search took me to Merlin's Guide. The song selection is just the right blend of challenges for several skill levels. I am challenged and hope to be so with future editions of Merlin's Guide. Crank them out Mr Speers!

Great collection of songs that sound wonderful on the Merlin and make me want to keep the thing here with me at work. Some familiar songs, some not so much but all documented in a way that makes you want to play. Add in the histories of the individual songs, a guide to the neck, a guide to chords and you have the perfect beginner's guide to a wonderful little instrument. Got my co-worker to bring her fiddle in and we are jammin'!

Ten Fun Songs for Seagull Merlin is a pioneering work on playing and understanding the Merlin, a new stringed, diatonic instrument introduced only a year ago. It answers beautifully the question asked by its new owners: "Where can I find tabs for songs to play on my Merlin?" There are tons of guitar, mandolin and banjo tabs but not much out there for the Merlin. Well here it is in an easy-to-use ebook format (I just prop my ipad up on my desk or music stand and go to town on these 10 songs. As a lover of old-time, bluegrass, Irish and folk music, I found the song selection to be well nigh perfect. Some for me were so easy I could play them almost immediately (Ode to Joy) and others I'm still wrestling (in a fun and challenging way) with (Arkansas Traveler). I recommend this book highly. You know you can't put the Merlin down, so learn these 10 songs and start impressing your friends.
