Wonderful story! Started off a little wonky, but I muddled through a couple chapter, and it took off. Think KG-200 meets Mechwarrior with Dirk Pitt. Oh, and I would class it more Dieselpunk, vice Steampunk (which does not detract from the rollicking tale!)

I am snatching up books 2 & 3.

Indiana Jones meets Iron man with some Jurassic park thrown in. Extremely enjoyable sci-fi escapism.
