Rated 3.50/5 based on 2 reviews
The following short story is a true account of my experience as a child, the day that Mount Saint Helens erupted. Please keep in mind that this is as it was seen through the eyes of a child, without any prior knowledge or awareness that there was even a live volcano anywhere nearby. More

About Tara Ellis

Author Tara Ellis lives in a small, rural town in Washington State, set in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. She enjoys the quiet lifestyle with her husband, two teenage kids and several dogs. Tara was a firefighter/EMT (yes, you read that right) and worked in the medical field for many years, before committing herself to writing young adult and middle grade novels full-time after life threw the MS curve-ball at her. (she still dabbles in teaching CPR)

She grew up on sci-fi, was a devoted Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica fan, and has since found a love for conspiracy theories. This background, combined with a wild imagination has led to The Forgotten Origins Trilogy. The first book in the series, Bloodline, won Honorable Mention in the Readers' Favorite 2015 book contest, and was a finalist in the IAN 2015 Book of the Year.

I was hoping for a more first hand look from the child, this is more what the author remembers as herself being a child at the time.

I admit to mostly choosing to read this online as I remember the news breaking that day (although being in the UK there was no baseball) and I have often wondered what it was like although I was a few years older than the author.

Seeing the events through the eyes of a child was really interesting and evocative of the ways children perceive events.

Thank you for sharing your story which I enjoyed, the writing style fit the tale and the emotions were clearly expressed.
