Born and raised in the Mid-West, Mary Anne Morefield lives a tri-partite life in Central Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Chautauqua, New York. She is an alumna of Wellesley College and Goddard College. She holds the M. Div. from Lutheran Theological Seminary in Gettysburg, PA and a D. Min. from Boston University School of Theology. She was an organic farmer who lived on an eighteenth-century farm, delivered brown eggs to her friends, made goats milk yogurt for her family, and rode her horse through the countryside. Following seminary and ordination in both the United Methodist and Lutheran Church (LCA), Mary Anne served as a parish pastor and as Chaplain of Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Now retired, she spends the summer at Chautauqua Institution among its active literary arts community. She served as Vice President of The Writers’ Center, and as President of the Chautauqua Literary Arts Friends. Mary Anne is a member of the Seminary Ridge Foundation in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, which oversees the Seminary Ridge Museum. Her first poem was published when she was in high school. Her work has appeared in various journals, including Poet Lore, Poetry East, Atlanta Review, The MacGuffin and Chautauqua.
