Review by: Mike White on Feb. 25, 2016 :
The extreme minimalism of this story helps make the protagonist seem extremely alien and inhuman, which is clearly what the writer was going for here. The short and sparse writing style managed to be suggestive, which worked well for a horror story like this.

This was actually a sensible short story which I enjoyed very much. I haven't read a vampire story like this before.

Finding one's soul mate takes time and patience. A lesson for us all.

If this is what an author writes when suffering from writers block then that alone earns 5 stars.
I found this quick read to be smooth and calm even though it's about a vampire. I felt like I was in the shadows watching and listening to his thoughts.
Very enjoyable indeed.

What a lovely story about a vampire. I like this guy even though he is what he is. Nice short piece of writing. Well described.

Very enjoyable quick read. A lone vampire searching for his mate and not doing very well.
I liked this very much.

Very good short piece of horror writing that starts off like a slow trickle of blood as our narrator describes his predicament, and as he hunts we find ourselves drawn into his world as the trickle becomes a torrent.

Good stuff indeed!

Wow, this is definitely a lot in a very few words or maybe my imagination was triggered.
I agree that it would be more directed at the ladies but as a male I still enjoyed this, flash, FLASH fiction.

A quick bite of a story, with much conveyed in few words and short sentences that work well to add tension. The scene is set with just enough detail to enable the imagination to do the rest, and the main character has an elegance fitting for an ancient and discerning vampire. He's after more than just blood...
Really enjoyed this and it's a great taster for Linda Arditto's other books, which I look forward to reading.

Once again Linda has given us a lot of story in very few words.
I agree it is a gentle story, hidden description to allow your imagination to flow. You do feel sympathy for him although he is a vampire and that's something one should fear.
Nicely written and most enjoyable.

Very old world and very interesting. 1880 and he's going to London? That's the year Jack the ripper was prowling around, I wonder if that is just a coincidence?
This story is gentle as a few others have mentioned. Again I found it well written and a pleasure to read.

With no actual physical description I could still picture him.
I can understand he seems cold but he still sounds sexy.
An enjoyable short read.

I think it would be more appealing to the ladies too but I thought it was well done.
Yes the vampire has little emotion just like in the older films. I think it really worked here.
I enjoyed it. Thanks for another free read.

I liked it but I think it would be more appealing to the ladies.
Old style vampire stuff. Very little emotion with this guy.
Still a good little flash.

I agree, this is a gentle story. Maybe it was the authors frame of mind when she wrote it. Totally different from Beware, the moon is Full, which was scary.
I'd love to run into this vampire, as long as he didn't bite me of course. Ha!

After reading the authors note I do feel for authors. Not a writer myself I'd never thought about what happens to them.
About the story:
I feel so sorry for this man but I probably shouldn't, he's a vampire.
It's actually a gentle story. I did enjoy it.
